The unit CHCPRT025 – Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk equips individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, or harm in children and young people. This unit is essential for professionals in education, childcare, healthcare, and community services, where early detection and intervention play a vital role in safeguarding vulnerable children.

Throughout the course, participants will learn to recognise indicators of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. The training covers legal and ethical responsibilities for reporting suspected harm, including adherence to workplace policies, state and federal legislation. Participants will also develop the ability to accurately document and report concerns, communicate effectively with relevant authorities, and provide support while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course with Rise Education and Training will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

• Must meet English and LLN requirements. 

• Reading – to read and understand forms and to make accurate reports

• Writing – to accurately record details of children and young people at risk and to make reports using handwritten skills and computer skills

• Communication – to communicate appropriately and effectively with children and young people who disclose sensitive information

• Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies. MS Office (Word, PDF, etc.) for completing and submitting assessments

• A Valid USI (Unique Student Identifier) – create one or check for an existing one by clicking https://www.usi.gov.au
